We were up by about 6:30 AM, but for some reason, it was a couple hours
before we were packed up and on the road. We said
our goodbyes
and hit the road. I was sad to leave, but at the same time was anxious
to get back home.
Traffic was moving well, CrowDog's bike was running great, and the miles
went by quickly. It was very cloudy when we left Rapid City, but about
50 miles out it was sunny. The temps were cool and it made for perfect
riding. We stopped for a bit at the rest area at Chamberlain
where I took a picture of the river. Our goal had been the Super 8 at
Worthington, Minnesota, where I'd made reservations. Because of the good
riding weather, we got there around 4:00 PM! I was glad we'd made reservations
because they were already turning away people.
Our room was on the third floor (nonsmoking, thankfully!) and by the
time we hauled all our crap up there, we were exhausted. We decided to
stay in and order pizza. I took a leisurely shower, then phoned the order
in. It didn't take long for them to deliver and CrowDog and I devoured
the large pizza in short order.
It was nice to relax on a real bed for the first time in a week and
to watch TV. The weather forecast was for sunny and clear and we knew
we'd make good time again the next day.
