We were up around 6:00 AM, anxious to get home. The hotel had an excellent
breakfast on hand. Cereal, juice, coffee, milk bread for toasting, English
muffins. We had a snack and were out on the road.
When we headed out, the temperature was 46 degrees! That made for excellent
riding and once again the miles rolled on with little or no effort. We
stopped for gas on the way out of Worthington, at the same place we'd
stopped on the way out a week before! This time the place was nearly deserted.
It was an uneventful ride until we stopped for breakfast in Austin,
Minnesota. The Perkins there had the absolute worst service. They didn't
have enough waitstaff on duty and were only seating people in about half
the tables, making several dozen wait up to an hour. By the time we got
our food it was cold. We complained and the waitress took off 50%. We
got a really cheap meal (about $5.00) because she neglected to charge
for my breakfast at all.
When we finally crossed the Mississippi into LaCrosse, I was really
ready to get home. We got home early, around 3:00 PM and the animals were
happy to see us. I got busy doing laundry and cleaning and CrowDog mowed
the hayfield that was our yard.
It was an excellent vacation.
