Road Trip: Sturgis 1999

Sunday, August 8, 1999

We slept very well and got up to another nice sunny day. It was a lazy one, too, and we just relaxed after a good breakfast of sourdough pancakes a la Skiv. Around noon, we I decided to head into the big city of Flandreau to see what was shaking. Not much. There wasn't anything to shake! We cruised to the other end of town, then I turned left to turn around to go back. We decided to stop at a little diner called the Spot Drive In. They had the best coated/seasoned French fries I've ever had, and the cheeseburgers were great, too. This diner was located on Water Street. The town well was also located here, as well as the swimming pool. I wondered if they named the street first, then dug the wells and swimming pool, or if it was the other way around.

We got back to Penny and Skiv's and I decided to lay down in the tent for a nap. A nice breeze was blowing and it felt good to lay around a while. But my nap was short. About 20 minutes later I heard motorcycles. Dana and Andrzej had arrived! Once again it was howdy-dos and hugs all around, and Penny gave the grand tour again.

Judy was kind enough to make her famous ribs for supper, so we feasted heartily and spent the remainder of the evening talking.
